Vol.52 Image Making issue
How does a flash of inspiration take on physical form? This issue we explore this question as we introduce the diverse creations of a group of image-makers who produce brilliant works of visual art. We also turn our focus to their original techniques and creative process from the moment the idea is conceived to the production of the graphics/photos and the finishing touches applied by computer or hand.
In this all-interview issue we speak with 10 creators of unique character who surpass traditional categories of media like graphic art, motion, film, and interactive with not only superficial impact but also profound vision. First up we welcome back for the first time since +81 Vol. 20 M/M, that most influential of design/art direction teams in Europe who work in everything from fashion and music to contemporary art. This time around we catch-up on their latest developments and present some of the latest in their long-running series of art posters along with a diverse selection of their more recent projects. Also making an appearance are a wide variety of visuals like the bold collages of Stéphane Massa-Bidal, photographic works featuring the ingenious props of Bela Borsodi, as well as the films of URBANSCREEN projected giant-size upon works of architecture. Accompanying each of these are rarely seen sketches and in-progress images, allowing you a behind-the-scenes look at the production of each piece.
The cover features artwork by Grandpeople that depicts a tribe of people wearing ethnic masks, while the back cover is graced by rough sketches of the cover art.
